Snowflakes for Christmas | Holiday Crochet

Crocheted Snowflakes!!!
These snowflakes from January 2024 were lying in real snow.
It was very exciting.
Due to some late-in-the-year traveling and medical issues for
poor Mr. Digger aka the NVO, that brought us to the "BIG" city of hospitals and specialists,
we have not yet been home to make and prepare magic for this wonderful time of the year!

So far everything is okay and we hope to be home before Christmas,
in the meantime here's some magic from last January.

Metamorphosis 1 | Caterpillar Play Pad | Free How-To Videos Live on YouTube

Metamorphosis 1 - Caterpillar Play Pad
Videos are Live!

A couple more rows are done on the Caterpillar Play Pad.
🐛🌸🍃

Unfortunately, it's slow going due to pain in my right wrist up to my elbow...
overuse, perhaps. 🙁

I don't know when I'll finish, but in the meantime if you would like a go at this pattern
then check out the following "how-to" videos are now available for free on YouTube:

Caterpillar Play Pad | Video 1 of 7 - Intro

Caterpillar Play Pad | Video 2 of 7 - Start a Row and Change Colors

Caterpillar Play Pad |  Video 3 of 7 - Back Side Joins

Caterpillar Play Pad |  Video 4 of 7 - Back Rows

Caterpillar Play Pad |  Video 5 of 7 - Sew One Side

Caterpillar Play Pad |  Video 6 of 7 - Stuff and Join Other Side

Caterpillar Play Pad |  Video 7 of 7 - Little Feet Border

So gather up your yarn, a 4 mm hook, a tapestry needle,
and a bag of fiberfill, and let's get started with these videos.

I used the following 16 colors, but if you use 10 of these and make the pad 10 x 10 rectangles then you will need only one skein of each color and an extra skein of green for the little feet.

Yarn in this order:
SSDK = Stylecraft Special DK
YSCDK = Yarnsmiths Create DK

SSDK Shrimp
SSDK Blush
SSDK Soft Peach or YSCDK Peachy Pink
SSDK Candy Floss
SSDK Fuschia Purple
SSDK Magenta
SSDK Wisteria or YSCDK Lilac
YSCDK Sky Blue
YSCDK Hydrangea Blue
SSDK Turquoise or YSCDK Light Turquoise
SSDK Sherbet or YSCDK Glacier Blue
SSDK Aspen
SSDK Spring Green or YSCDK Hint of Mint
SSDK Grass Green
SSDK Citron
SSDK Lemon

I've organized my yarn in a box I picked up from the Wine Store. 😉🍾

Pictured are the first three sections/rows.
At least seven more sections will be joined for a playpen pad, a floor pad, a reading pad,
a pet bed, or simply a squishy soft pad to play upon!
Easily customizable to your size and your colors.

See how the colors are lined up in the color wheel order?
And then the colors go diagonally across the pad as well.
Makes me happy!
This has been such a fun and easy project.
The puffy rectangles are crocheted together all in one piece vertically and
then sewn together horizontally, but there will be more about that later on
with strategically placed yarn ends.

We'll start with just the basic stitch, then a color change,
then the very cool joining of the same color on the other side.
And how about those little caterpillar feet as a border?

Warmly,
Astri Elisabeth

Macaroon Blossom Afghan | Crochet Pattern | 2024 Revision

The Macaroon Blossom Afghan Crochet Pattern
now has a 2024 revision!
These photos are a miniature version of the afghan that was made to film the new stamen, petals, and leaves videos, and to create a video for the border, but the afghan in the pattern measures
36" x 54" (91 cm x 138 cm).

The videos for the stamen, petals, and leaves have been refilmed.
There were a few makers that have requested a border video so that has been added, as well.
Scheepjes Stone Washed was the yarn used in the photographed mini afghan and the pattern.
Just so you know, I used Peridot for the leaves and New Jade
for the leaf joins as I was out of Canada Jade. All greens work up nicely. 😊

If you previously purchased the pattern via Ravelry,
you would have received the 2024 revision last month

If you purchased the pattern on Etsy, Lovecrafts or at Wool Warehouse (before March 2024) then access
the YouTube links and
the links for the new videos via the description of the old videos.

The "Leaf Join" video includes a link to the new "Border" video
referenced in the description.
In addition to new videos, the pattern has been spruced up, reformatted,
and expertly tech-edited by the lovely
@krosha_prapancha
A big thank you to my friend Poornima!
