Granny Rose Pillow | Tests

Remember these Granny Rose Pillow test squares from yesterday?

Now, they have been turned into square pillows.:

 The only differences:
1)  9 squares vs 12 on each side
2) Colors are different
and
3) DK weight yarn was used vs worsted weight;
specifically Stylecraft Special DK and Scheepjes Colour Crafter.

These options, including color numbers and names
 are included in the pattern
or on the photo above.

Thanking you for sticking it out with this pattern for so many years!

Warmly,

Astri

Granny Rose Pillow Remix | Pattern Link with Modifcations

New Year ~ New Project!
Working on a couple of pillows to brighten up the studio/guest room.
Picture these with pom-poms.
🌸🌞🌸

I dusted off the old Granny Rose Crochet Pattern
from nearly a decade ago and did a little remix:

Designer: Astri Elisabeth
Pattern: Granny Rose Afghan with *modification below.
(Please click here for pattern.)
Yarn: Scheepjes Colour Crafter or Stylecraft Special DK
(Please click here if you would like to purchase yarn.)

 Luckily I had a couple of 16" x 16" pillow forms.

All this yarn is from my stash...
New Years Resolution:
See how long can I go without purchasing more yarn.
Pom-poms with a Ta-da coming soon!

*Omit one granny row for a smaller square, but be sure to include bonus hdc row.

Warmly,

Astri

Candy Cane Hat and Metro Scarf | Free Pattern Link and Info

This is me and the NVO
(or is this The NVO and I???)
in the first two crocheted projects completed in 2020!

We don't like photos of ourselves but we live in a small town in winter sooooooo...
this was our only option.
(Thank goodness for filters. πŸ˜‰)
🍬Candy Cane Hat 🍬                                          πŸ’™ Metro Scarf πŸ’™

The Metro Scarf

Designer: Astri Elisabeth
Pattern: *Alternating Single Crochet
Yarn: Scheepjes Metropolis

It's simple to make:
Row 1: sc, ch1
Rows 2-?: ch1, sc
Each single crochet is worked in the chain space
from the previous row. Make it as wide and long as you would like. Then add a little fringe to the edges.
*If you are new to crochet, detailed directions can be found in the
"365 Crochet Stitches a Year" Perpetual Calendar
by Jean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss  - "Alternating Single Crochet", March 16
I love how this stitch worked up with this yarn.

The Candy Cane Hat
Designer: Melanie Ham
Pattern: Absolute Beginner Crochet Hat with *modification
(Click here for the free pattern.)
Yarn: Trysil - Superwash Rent Ullgarn
(100% Wool Superwash)

*Instead of a pom-pom the hat was crocheted longer and
then the top was tied into a ball by wrapping two strands of yarn
a couple of inches from the top, tying and weaving in the ends.
It's still long enough to fold up to make sure the ears
are completely covered in a double layer too.
We have many below zero days here in Wyoming...brrrrrrrr...
and this wool hat is just the ticket!

Please note the NVO is wearing the same hat as I am.
His is shorter, no pom-pom/ball and it's black. πŸ˜‰

Happy new beginnings and

Warmly,

Astri
