Stjernedal

50 months to retirement,
and after a three year search...

We finally found a place to call home:

Stjernedal

It's a "fixer upper" and we are excited!

Stay tuned for "before and after" posts of the
transformation into a Scandinavian country home.

  1. Does this mean you go back to your homeland?
What a lovely house it is.
We live in The Netherlands, but our house (we build ourselves) is Finnish.
Love it, a wooden home, so warm and it has an atmosphere as if your always on holiday!
Looking forward to the before-and-after posts!

    1. Hello Anja! A home in the Netherlands and Finland sounds so nice!

No this home is also in the USA. I dream of a home in Norway, but that might not be possible, so I will bring Norway to our new home in Wyoming.

Thank you so much for stopping by and your comment.

  2. I'm so happy for you and so excited. I know first hand how much fun it is to fix up a retirement home. How far from your current home is it? Close enough to go back and forth on weekends to work on it? We're about 6 hours from our lake house, which is a bit of a drive for 2 day weekends.

    1. Hi Kim! WE are a little less than a four hour drive so it's feasible. I imagine you love going to the Lake House. It always sounds so nice when you blog about it!

  4. Hello Astri! This house is definitely you! I can see the bones here and can only imagine the fun you must now be having working out how you are going to furnish it with all your lovely craftiness. Looking forward to watching the progress. When do you both officially retire?? Have you already sold the house you are currently in? Too many questions I know....... would make it easier if I could just pop around for a cuppa lol. I was just wondering what you were up to this morning as I looked at your clock up on our bedroom wall. Take care my friend xo

    1. Hi Sharmayne,

Thanks for stopping by and your interest! Yes, the bones are good - one must have a vision for this one, but it sounds like you do too. We retire in October 2020. I wish you could stop by for a cuppa! On our new porch...once it is painted. :-)

  9. Whata dream. I can see the potential for sure!!! That porch! It will be a Scandinavia meets Southern on this house. Can't wait to see the big transformation. When one can not return to your home country, the best way is to bring your home country to your new country. Congratulations on your exciting project. :)
