Autumn Granny Rose Pillow I

My friend "D" has a birthday next month.
Once she told me how to figure out the colors she loved,
she said "Think Fall".

This is the beginning of a pillow for her birthday:
This "Spring" colors gal has been thinking of these "Autumn" colors:

Stylecraft yarn in Saffron, Gold, and Copper.
With an "F" hook 3.75 mm.

The pillow will be 3 x 3 for a square.
(three of each color)
It will fit perfect over the little IKEA pillow I like so much.
I'll crochet something funky and different for the back.

Fall is coming...
...and so are more roses inspired by the Autumn colors:
The rose is crocheted in-the-round and the pattern can be found here.

(The row with four petals has an extra treble stitch added
before and after the chain, that is at the top of each petal.)
~
The entire pillow pattern can be found here.

Stay tuned for project updates.

Happy forthcoming colors of the Season!

Hollyhocks, Zinnia, Hibiscus and Bluebonnets

Summer 2015 was not the best year we've had in the garden;
however, it was a year of garden firsts for us:

Our first zinnia with little yellow stars in the middle...

Our first Texas bluebonnets...
(From seeds purchased in Fredricksburg, TX - this is the real deal baby!)

 ...and hibiscus...
(not purchased in Hawaii - this one came from Home Depot. ;-) )
Might still be the real deal though.

and one I've wanted for decades...
 ...hollyhocks!
aaaaaa...our first hollyhocks!!!
Makes me so happy!

Wishing you a happy garden as well!
