La Vie en Rose Afghan Finished and Pattern Listed!

The pattern for the La Vie en Rose Afghan

was complete and I was ready for a nap! ;-)

There's a lot that goes into writing a pattern.

(I'm not complaining...probably bragging. ;-) )

It includes a join-as-you go method, if preferred, and an invisible join.

This 11 page photo step-by-step pattern/tutorial

will delight crocheters...beginning to advanced. ;-)

The pattern also includes a border and looks like this:

This afghan took a long time, for me, only because I kept putting it away for other projects.

It's 37 rows long and one row could feasibly be crocheted in one to two evenings.

So just as I was about to lay (lie) down, "La Vie" asked for a photo shoot.

How could I say no to my intermittent companion for the last two years?

So here she is:

On the blue patio chair.

On the kitchen counter.

Folded up on the kitchen stools.

Rolled up on the kitchen stools.

Rolled up on the sofa.

(This was "La Vie's" idea.)

Spread out on the lawn.

Hanging on the back fence.

Soon "La Vie" will be accessorized with a lacy trim/edging.

But that won't be until after my nap.

Tomorrow, offspring # 3 "The Condition" will wed his lovely bride,

so there won't be any crocheting for a few days. ;-)

I will have another daughter and I am so excited!

La Vie En Rose Afghan Progress

 Five rows and a lace border is all that's left to finish this afghan.

Then to write the pattern!

Pin Cushion

I ended up with these two sets of four squares:

So a pincushion was born:

The two squares were joined with a row of sc,

then a row of hdc in pink.

Then a picot stitch in light pink,

 from step five of the granny rose pattern here.

Embellished with a flower made from the first two rounds of the granny rose here.

It's that blue orchid again!

Charming Norsk Town, Shop and Needlework

While traveling through Norway, in May, we happened across 

the most charming town called Elnesvågen with the most charming second-hand store

 with the most charming staff and stuff. :-) 

That's where I found this:

I found a few other items but those will be for future posts.

This favorite of mine, deserves a post of it's own, you see...

this little storehouse is called a "stabbur".

I love them, I can't get enough of them.

In fact, a "stabbur" has been incorporated into my banner as a birdhouse. :-)

Elnesvågen is not far from where my mother lives in Bud.

We patronized this shop in Elnesvågen together, where

the staff was absolutely delightful.

It is a warm and wonderful memory of our trip!

Somebody spent countless hours making this and I am so happy that I could give it a second home.

The stabbur needlepoint did not come in this frame.

The needlepoint was in a mid-century wood frame, that would not fit in my suitcase,

so we removed it and rolled it up for the flight back home.

Upon our return to the States, the NVO and I framed it with

a $9 frame from Taipan Trading and a little decorative wood moulding.

Gotta' love those bargains!

Now it hangs front and center above our fireplace:

and believe it or not, it's real!

Claude meet Camille, Camille meet Claude
