Poinsettia Heart Wreath

Would you like to make your own poinsettia heart wreath?

Like this:
or
like this:
or this:

If so, the step by step pattern and tutorial for "Poinsettia Crocheted in-the-round",
complete with videos can be purchased at Etsy here.

And the wreath can be made like this:

 First acquire heart form.
I ordered mine from Amazon here.

Then sc the width and length of heart,

sew sc strip onto heart like this:

It should/could l look like this.

Add some wire to hang it:
Or it can be hung from the bow:

Crochet bow with two rows of ss to desired length:
And place poinsettias and bow in desired position with straight pins,
this gives the wreath a lot of flexibility to change and even change with the seasons!
I found straight pins with yellow heads for the poinsettias and a red one for the bow.
The lighting is not good in this photo; however, I hung mine in the middle of a boxwood wreath above some little wood stabburs on our book shelf.

This project was made with the beautiful
cotton blend Tilda Yarn from My Rose Valley.

Happy Season All!

'Tis the Guessing Season - Reveal

The answer to the guessing game from the previous four posts is:

POINSETTIA HEART WREATH!!!

And the winner is:
Mum from the Mum's Simply Living Blog
Congratulations Mum!
The magical third word I was looking for was "heart".

Mum won with the following comment on the third post:

I'm still thinking wreath with poinsettia, bow and holly decoration but the white crochet from yesterday's post has me stumped. Maybe it's a Christmas cover for something with the aforesaid decoration. The 'wreath ring' now doesn't look round, maybe it's a heart shaped wreath. Oh my. I'll have another go tomorrow.
Love from Mum
xx

Mum will receive the following three prizes:

1) 3 balls of Tilda yarn of your choice with free Priority Shipping Worldwide generously donated by Annette of My Rose Valley . Since Annette will be shipping the yarn from her shop in Switzerland, she has also extended the following offer:
- You can also take the chance to purchase up to 5 more balls of Tilda yarn (4.90 USD/ball) of your choice and add to your parcel with no extra shipping fee. (Thank you so much Annette!) Click here to see all the fabulous colors.

2) The .pdf pattern to make her own project from the guessing posts.

3) A heart wreath form. (The secret prize...now you know why it was a secret until now. )

I would also like to extend the offer of a free .pdf pattern for the poinsettia to anyone who wrote "Poinsettia Wreath", in the comment section, as this was very close, the only word that was missing was "heart" or guessed "Poinsettia Heart Wreath" after Mum guessed.
Please email me at digger.lizzie@gmail.com and I will reply with the .pdf attachment.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who participated.

Stay tuned tomorrow for instructions on
how to make your own heart wreath!
In the mean time, the "Poinsettia Crocheted in-the-round" pattern complete with a photo tutorial and videos can be found on Etsy here.

Rose Rug Ta Da!

ALL DONE!
The decision was made to leave off a border.
Thank you all for your comments, it helps with my indecisiveness.
You are all the best!
Paired with one of my favorite afghans, the vintage ripple, from this post.

Sunshine on one side and,
a fire on the other side, adds to the coziness of the rug.
A great place to study or work. :-)

Or the rug can also be used as a very warm throw to cuddle up in during the pending winter months.
(Probably want to wash it first, though, but that will be easy as it is made in two sections.)
Rose pattern can be purchased here and additional instructions to put the rug together can be found here.

Wishing you a Cozy-Cuddly Day!

A Tiny Bit of Summer

The NVO cleaned out the remaining flower beds this weekend,
and look what he rescued:
A few remaining bachelor buttons from last summer!
These were the flowers grown from the 4/$1 seed packets from the Dollar Store wrapped up on this post.
Boy, talk about a lot of bang for the buck!
And check out the test tube vase...just perfect for my scientist hubby!

I miss you, Summer, but we will see  you next year. :-)

OK, it's time to get back to the season at hand before it's gone. ;-)

Chocolate Cake Mix Donuts

Okay, one last treat before the lean protein and vegetable fun begins:

 Very easy:
Stir 2 eggs, 2/3 c. buttermilk, and 2 1/2 T. soft butter in a devils food cake mix for about a minute.
Then pipe into a lightly greased donut pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 5-6 minutes, until toothpicks comes out clean.
Immediately pop out of pan and enjoy while warm
or wait a bit and drizzle with powdered sugar mixed with a little cream....

And thank you all for all the wonderful comments on my last few posts.
I read them all and smile. :-)
