Reupholstered Appliances for Commitment-Phobes

Quilting the Washer and Dryer...

Yes, it is indeed true...I reupholstered the washer and dryer:

 

and, yes, many may think I have "lost the plot" with this one. :-)

But, one thing I have learned is that once you have "lost the plot" you are in good company:

You see that with this rose bush "before" and "after" from this post,

 my dear friend Linda of Linda's Crafty Corner

claims she has "lost the plot", as well. 

She replaced the dead foliage of her bush with beautiful red granny roses!

You see what I mean about good company?

Started with this:

I forgot to take a picture before I started painting,

 I remembered in the midst and took this photo.

The area went from a darker green to light blue. :-)

 Here's after painting.

 I desired a bright and welcoming area since this is in the front and center of our home.
That's the door leading in from the garage directly into the kitchen.
It's gotta' have some snap, for heaven's sake!

so then....

 I took some fabric and ric-rac "this and thats" from the scrap bin.

Threw in some liquid starch.

 and literally starch-glued the fabric to the appliances.

Let it dry over night.

Then trimmed it up with a little ric-rac held on with hot-glue:

brought in a coordinating trash can:

And there you have it!
A no-sew non-committal re-done appliance set.

And if I tire of it...I simple peel it off, sponge down the appliances,

 throw the fabric in the washer and it's as if it never ever happened!

And when questioned by the authorities, I will simply reply,

"Now, what weird thing did I do?...hmmmmm...show me."

Tee, hee. :-)

(Oh and BTW this "lost the plot" phrase was unknown to me, until Linda came along with this post ..these English folk are crafty ones! I Googled it and could not believe I have lived my life, to this point, without it.

 And, as you can see, I have now added it to my idiom repertoire.)
