Stash-Buster #26 - Rose pillows

2020 Update:
The above-pictured pillows are a variation of two patterns from my Etsy Shop:
1) The Granny Rose Heart Pillow:
Here are variations included in the pattern:

and the
2) Granny Rose Pillow:
Here is the variation from the pattern:

And so the original posits continues as is:

During the course of Linda and Ana's 2013 Stash-buster challenge,

I got side-tacked and finished up a project from last year:
You may remember the Granny Rose Afghan from about a bazillion posts this year.
Made with this pattern.
Well, so, you know what happened once that project was done?
You know, don't you?
There was more yarn to be added to the stash,
in addition to a few extra roses and granny squares.
Pattern for the rose granny squares can be purchased on Etsy here.

What to do? What to do?
Hmmmmm....
How about a couple of pillows to bust that stash?
You see, I have an addiction to pillows, (more details on that in a future post),
but in the mean time I will make a couple of more pillows.
Yup, that's it: pillows!

Pillow #1
A heart shaped pillow...
Pattern for a Rose heart pillow is now listed in my Etsy shop:
Click here for the pattern that includes the Granny Rose Square.

Crocheted a front and back.
Joined together,
with that infamous picot stitch I use everywhere.
(See this post which includes picot stitch video.)
Utilized button stash for opening.
 Made a pillow form.
This might not look like the best part; but, it just might be...
you see my friend, who must remain anonymous,
retrieved a perfectly recyclable white sheet from the trash while visiting her children,
and thought "Astri could use this for a rag rug or something", and gave it to me!
Ha, I LOVE how she thinks of me in context with the trash. :-)
 I know.... it's a sewing machine!
Yelp!
Stuffed with fiberfill leftover from another 2012 project.
A little lumpy, but once placed in it's cover, you'll never know.
See not so lumpy anymore, huh?

Then there's pillow #2
A couple of squares:
One with one rose and lots of trim.
And one with four roses and little trim.
  Another button stashing opening,
and stuffed with that $1.99 IKEA pillow bargain,
that I am so fond of.
 And there you have it!
Stash-busting low-cost guest room accouterments.
 Velkommen till gjesten rom. :-)
Whew, that was a long post.
Perhaps it should have been divided into two posts: one for each pillow.
Oh well, too late now. :-)

Oh and BTW I am onto something completely different with
the rest of the acrylic stash
(gosh there's a lot of it)
that I will be excited to show you soon.
Two projects, very different from each other;
colors I do not typically use and no granny roses either.)

See you soon!

Stash-Buster #25 - His and Hers

In the past few years, the search for tissue box covers for our nightstands has been "on".
I never found anything that tickled my fancy, or my budget,
so I made my own with yarn from the stash:
This was an exceptionally gentle project on the pocketbook,
and there isn't a lot that makes me happier than an "easy on the pocketbook" project.
The piggy banks are also "His" and "Hers".
We collect our change for a year and then go to one fancy dinner per year on the pigs!
The NVO's bank is the bigger one because he has deeper pockets and more of them. ;-)

If so...

Stash-Buster #24 - Rose Ear Warmer

Eeked this one out of the last bits of
the Bernat Alpaca blend yarn from the stash:
 So soft!!!

Ear warmer pattern from this youtube video.
Roses made from the Granny rose tutorial here
And they are safety pinned on so that the intended recipient
can move the roses around or eliminate them altogether with ease.
You know how I am about that sewing thing...
Hey, at least I didn't use straight pins. :-D
Have a warm day!

'Cause somewhere in the crowd there's you!

All I do is eat and sleep and crochet
Facing twenty thousand of your crocheted friends
How can anyone be so lonely?
Temptations of crochet that never ends
Still I'm thinking about you only
 Shining like the sun
Smiling, having fun
Feeling like your number one!
My Super Trouper's gonna' find me
while I crochet with red and white and blue,
like I always do
'cause somewhere in the crowd is you.

(Gosh, I wish playlists were still an option on blogs.)

Stash-Buster #22 - Vintage Rainbow: Ta Dah!

The stash-buster from this post is done!
It's the Vintage Ripple pattern from Churchmouse, found here.
Here it is folded all neatly.
Here it is not folded neatly. :-)
I'm kind of liking the tunnel effect of this photo.
 From the left...
...from the right.
The ends were filled in with some sc, hdc, dc's.
I was trying to make in flat and straight.
The rippling ruffle effect was not intended, but I went with it.

Finished off with the infamous picot stitch.

The sides received a row of sc, dc and then the picot.
I am not good at making that first sc row on a side look good.
Does anyone have any hints or tips?
Photographed with the Bobble Zig Zag afghan from here,
and here,
and then a pile of afghans.
The afghans are starting to take over the house!
Could not resist a photo of the Bobble Zig Zag afghan with the original Granny Rose afghan,
even though it has nothing to do with this post for the Vintage Rainbow. ;-)

Bustin' the stash with my homies:
Linda and Ana
:-)
They also added a link party here:

Have a good week!
