Do you remember how excited I was yesterday?
I sure do!!!
Remember this from yesterday?
It was pulled out from the "stash",
as part of Linda and Ana's Stashbuster Challenge 2013.
So it all got started like this:
I have been wanting to make a diagonal granny scarf for ages and ages!
I had searched and searched and I could not find the pattern written in English.
Try searching "Diagonal Granny Scarf "and you will find lots of delightful scarves and patterns
but by golly, it's difficult to find one in English or figure it out from
a translator or looking at photos.
For me, there's kind of a tricky turning stitch.
Then all of a sudden after much searching, lo and behold,
what to my wondering eyes should appear?
what to my wondering eyes should appear?
But the pattern AND tutorial from a dear blogger by the name of Pradeepa.
Her blog is called "The Lazy Hobby Hopper " (How cute is that?)
And the strange thing is, I visit Pradeepa often, in fact,
I had commented on this post a long time ago.
I had commented on this post a long time ago.
Oh brother, it was right under my nose, all this time.
Pradeepa is so worth visiting and this tutorial is so well done.
I added a shell edge:
1st row: sc around (3sc in the corners)
2nd row: one sc, skip two, 6 dc in one for shell, skip two sc, one sc,
skip two and then another 6 dc for shell, and so on and so forth.
Then I found this cute box to photograph with the scarf.
The apron, from this post, came in it.
I like this combo.
Seems English to me...
I was in hopes it would coordinate with my winter coat."
(The color of the winter coat is "atmosphere", how "cool" is that?)
BINGO!
Oh, oh, oh, oh just you wait until next week.
I had enough yarn to make something to coordinate with this scarf
that includes none other than the Granny Rose!
Can you believe it?
I think I know the answer to that. :-)
Thank you Pradeepa!
This is SO fun!
I love it Astri how clever of you to find it, I must try this it's on my list of to do's, thank you for the link, I can't wait to see what you are doing with the remainder of the yarn, it will be special if the granny rose is involved :)
ReplyDeletePerhaps you will have some yarn in your stash for a scarf like this. It doesn't take very much when you use lot of colors. Thanks again for hosting this challenge Linda, it has really motivated me!
Deletewow! that scarf is beautiful! I will check out that tutorial for sure!
ReplyDeleteYes, please do and let me know how it goes. :-)

ReplyDeleteThank you Debi. Are you stash busting too? Seems like you would have a mighty fine stash. :-)
DeleteNå blir du fin i vinterkåpe og skjærf. Kan det være en hatt du vil vise i morgen, tro ?
ReplyDeleteYou Norsk ladies are too smart. ;-)
DeleteThe scarf is beautiful, Astri. I had used dull colors but this is so vibrant and gorgeous. Love it!
ReplyDeleteYour stool cover is gorgeous and the colors are very nice. I have a tendency to over do the color sometimes and I do long for a more subdued project...and I think the stash will accommodate, though. :-)
DeleteYou did a great job -- and, of course, those colors are so you! Have a great weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you Tammy, looks like you have been going gung ho on your stash, too.
DeleteAstri you always have a way with colours......the scarf is beautiful
