The top part is the granny roses joined with sc. The striped part is the striped part from the hippie dress pattern by Mrs. Wild at wildaboutcolor.blogspot.com. *Then 2-3 rows of single crochet and then a row of alternating 3 dc and a sc followed by a few more rows of sc. A chain with slip stitches all the way down is then woven in and out of the 3 dc and 1 sc row.
The very top is the same as * but I put a couple of wooden beads on the ends. The straps are just a chain with dc coming down each side. :-)
Hope that helps.
Since so much of it comes from the pattern I purchased from Mrs. Wild I don't feel right about publishing the pattern for the purse; however, I think you can figure it out from her pattern and my explanation.
This reminds me so much about grandma's crochet projects. Great work! And what a cute little bug you have :o)
