The "Fit Blanket" Beginnings

The Daisy Square Blanket in its Inception
IMHO there's no better time to start a new "concept" than the first day of the month.
I love the first day of the month;
always feels like an opportunity for a new beginning.
So this project brings with it a new fitness idea.
I get so excited about a new project I want to work on it all the time.
So my rule for this project: I will allow myself to work on it as long
as I have engaged in 45 minutes of cardio that day,
or I can work on it whilst riding the recumbent exercise bike.
No ifs, ands, or buts about it!
(If I put it in writing on a public blog then I will be accountable, right?)
Hereinafter, this blanket will be referred to as the "Fit Blanket".

I am thinking about connecting the squares with a single crochet in white.
Not sure about the color pattern, yet...stripes, random, diagonal, etc.
My Rose Valley is where you can find a fantastic tutorial for this pattern.

Have a Delightful Day!!!

  1. Good luck with the cardio! I'm the same way when I start a new project. I just want to sit, watch TV, and crochet!

  2. What type of paint did you use for the painted rug? I would love to try that.

  4. Oh yes, crochet and TV is very nice together. I am a huge fan!

The paint is leftover acrylic interior house paint with 4 coats of a waterbased varathane concrete sealer mixed with some silicone sand so it won't be so slippery. The key - lots of time after the last coat for furniture placement and foot traffic, at least one week.

  5. Annette - you are the inspiration! This project could take a while with the rules I've placed on myself. ;-)

  6. Amazing...again. When I saw the first post re: the new patio blanket, I knew it wouldn't be long till I saw more and at the rate you go, probably the whole thing in no time. Remember...the faster you pedal, the faster the crochet hook goes. Good luck.

  9. Ha, ha...I think I have been doing too much of the television and crochet; hence, the need for the "rules." "Dancing with the Stars" starts soon and I do like that show...too bad I can't dance and crochet at the same time. ;-)

  11. Wow. Great idea to ration crocheting time according to exercise time. I'm afraid I substitute crochet time FOR exercise time. I admire your self-restraint.

The design process is almost more fun than the execution. I would waste - I mean spend - lots of time deciding on motif arrangement and have all kinds of fun doing it. :)
